Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Shark Teeth

Are your shark teeth real?

Yes! Every shark tooth used in Soto's Shark Teeth jewelry is a genuine fossil shark tooth. We do not use imitation or synthetic shark teeth.

Where do your shark teeth come from?

Every shark tooth in our regular jewelry collection is personally found by the owner of Soto's Shark Teeth, primarily around Venice, Florida, and the Peace River area.

Do you personally find every shark tooth?

Yes! Every tooth in our regular collection is personally found, and each piece of jewelry is handmade. For custom orders, we can also work with shark teeth supplied by customers.

Will my jewelry look exactly like the pictures?

Because we use genuine fossils, every shark tooth is unique. Natural differences in color, shape, size, and fossil characteristics are part of what makes each piece special.

Jewelry & Materials

Is your jewelry handmade?

Yes! Each piece is handcrafted using genuine fossil shark teeth. Our jewelry includes necklaces, earrings, and anklets inspired by the ocean and coastal living.

What materials do you use?

Materials vary by design and may include stainless steel, gold-filled wire, and 18K gold PVD-coated stainless steel components. Specific materials are listed in each product description.

Will my jewelry tarnish?

We select materials with durability and everyday wear in mind. However, resistance to tarnishing depends on the specific materials and how the jewelry is cared for.

Can I wear my jewelry in the ocean or shower?

We recommend removing your jewelry before swimming, showering, or participating in water activities. Saltwater, chlorine, soaps, and other chemicals can affect metal finishes and the appearance of your jewelry over time.

How should I care for my jewelry?

Avoid prolonged exposure to water, lotions, perfumes, and harsh chemicals. Gently wipe your jewelry with a soft, dry cloth after wearing and store it in a clean, dry place. Avoid pulling or bending the wire wrapping.

Custom Jewelry

Do you accept custom jewelry orders?

Absolutely! We love creating custom pieces. Whether you're looking for a particular shark tooth, a different wire color, or a personalized necklace or pair of earrings, we're happy to discuss your ideas.

Every fossil is unique, so available tooth shapes, sizes, and colors will vary.

Can I send you a shark tooth I found to turn into jewelry?

Yes! We'd love to help turn your own shark tooth discovery into a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry.

Whether you found a tooth during a beach vacation, a fossil hunting trip, or a special day on the water, we can discuss transforming it into a handmade keepsake.

Contact us before sending your fossil so we can review its size, shape, and condition, discuss design options, and provide shipping instructions.

Please note that some fossils may be too fragile or unsuitable for certain jewelry designs.

How much does custom jewelry cost?

Standard custom jewelry designs, including pieces made using your own shark tooth, are generally offered at a flat rate based on the jewelry style and materials selected.

More intricate designs, specialty materials, or highly personalized requests may require an individual quote.

All pricing will be discussed and confirmed before work begins.

How do I request a custom piece?

Email sharkbitestudiollc@gmail.com with a description of what you're looking for. Feel free to include inspiration photos or details about your preferred tooth size, metal finish, or jewelry style.

For customer-supplied shark teeth, please include clear photographs and approximate measurements.

We'll discuss available options, pricing, and estimated completion time before confirming your order.

Who pays shipping for customer-supplied shark teeth?

Customers are responsible for the cost of shipping their shark tooth to Soto's Shark Teeth. Please contact us before mailing your fossil so we can provide shipping instructions and confirm that it is suitable for the requested design.

We recommend using secure packaging and a shipping method with tracking.

Once your custom jewelry is complete, our standard U.S. shipping rates apply: $7.95 for orders under $50 and free standard shipping for orders of $50 or more.

Can I return a custom piece?

Because custom and personalized jewelry is made specifically for you, these items generally cannot be returned for a change of mind. If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us so we can make it right.
